JLC Wellness is a Pine Bluff, Arkansas herbal wellness company focused on helping people take a more natural, intentional approach to everyday health. Meet the Founder, Lamar
Lamar Henderson is a Pine Bluff native, trained herbalist, community advocate, and the heart behind JLC Wellness. Before opening the store, he attended and completed herbalist school, deepening his understanding of herbs, the human body, and natural approaches to everyday wellness. His education, combined with his own personal health transformation, became the foundation for the work he does today.
But Lamar’s commitment to helping people extends far beyond herbal wellness. For years, he has used his time, resources, voice, and platforms to pour back into the Pine Bluff community. He has sponsored and organized community events that provided free food, haircuts, and hair braiding for children, supported aquatic and recreational events, hosted family days, created employment opportunities, and shared his platforms with local entrepreneurs to help give their businesses greater visibility.
The youth of his community hold a particularly important place in his heart. Lamar cares deeply about the minds, choices, and future direction of young people. He regularly uses his voice and his own life experiences to encourage young men and women to turn away from dangerous paths and recognize that another way of living is possible—one built around peace, purpose, responsibility, and a better future.
Because Lamar can speak from experience, his message comes from a place of understanding rather than judgment. Whether through community service, entrepreneurship, mentorship, or herbal wellness, his goal has remained consistent: to leave people and his community better than he found them.
JLC Wellness is another expression of that commitment—a place where his personal journey, herbal education, love for his community, and desire to help others take greater ownership of their health all come together.
Our Origin Story
JLC Wellness was founded by Lamar Henderson and named in honor of his late father, Jerry Lee Cunning, the man who raised him.
Lamar’s journey into herbal wellness began through personal experience. After watching his father face serious health challenges, including complications involving blood pressure and other illnesses, Lamar began to think more deeply about health, prevention, and the importance of listening to the body.
That awareness became even more personal when Lamar experienced health scares of his own, including dangerously high blood pressure that approached stroke-level readings during a period of intense stress and pressure from life circumstances. Those moments became a turning point. He began taking his health more seriously, studying the body, learning about herbs and nutrition, making lifestyle changes, and reconnecting with the earth and traditional plant-based wellness practices.
His own weight-loss journey and health transformation strengthened that commitment.
JLC Wellness grew from those experiences as both a tribute to Jerry and a testimony to Lamar’s personal transformation. What began as a search for better health became a mission to help others become more informed, more intentional, and more connected to their own wellness.
